Subject: Discovering New England Stone Walls
Speaker: Kevin Gardner
Kevin Gardner will discuss the history, technique, stylistic development, and aesthetics of New England stone walls. He will explain how and why New England came to acquire its thousands of miles of stone walls, the ways in which they and other dry stone structures were built, how their styles emerged and changed over time, and their significance to the famous New England landscape. He will do all this while simultaneously building a miniature wall or walls on a tabletop, using tiny stones from a five-gallon bucket. His book, “The Granite Kiss,” will be available for purchase at the end of the program.

Speaker: Donald Demers, Ph.D.
Donald Demers, co-owner of Buxton Hollow Farm in Woonsocket, will do a deep dive into the topic of Soil Health. His fascinating talk will educate about the importance of soil health to the success of every garden. This will include examining the role of the soil biome, learning how to read a soil lab report, understanding the part that various minerals and amendments play in the regeneration of the soil in the garden, and answering your questions about soil.

Film Documentary - “Kiss the Ground”
“Kiss the Ground” is a 2020 film about how regenerating the world’s soils has the potential to rapidly stabilize Earth’s climate, restore lost ecosystems, and create abundant food supplies. Narrated by Woody Harrelson, and featuring music from singer songwriter and farmer, Jason Mraz, the star-studded film explains why transitioning to regenerative agriculture could be key in rehabilitating the planet, while it simultaneously invigorates a new sense of hope and inspiration in viewers.

Marta Taylor of Bloom Floral Studio in Concord, Massachusetts, will design two flower arrangements highlighting flower selection, color combinations, and arrangement mechanics, and also one hand tied arrangement.
Her style of arranging is loose and naturalistic making a relaxed look.
She will give tips and techniques to help you create beautiful arrangements at home.
Marta, the studio owner and principal designer at Bloom, hasbeen a floral arranger at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston andthe Concord Museum.
She has taught classes at both museums.
