Geoff Dennis began photographing birds in his yard as a hobby, primarily to document uncommon birds he occasionally observed there. His hobby led to photographing for three manufacturers of bird feeders. Geoff has observed more than 180 species of birds in his yard, including RI’s first Rufous hummingbird in 1995, a western hummingbird, and Rhode Island’s third record of Calliope hummingbird in 2023. He also discovered New England’s first Virginia’s Warbler in Maine. Geoff’s talk will be on common and uncommon birds he has photographed in and around his Little Compton yard and why his yard is such is such a bird friendly yard.
