Through the Eyes of the Plants: Integrating Native Plants into Residential Gardens in Ways that Make Sense for People - and for Plants!

  • Barrington Public Library 281 County Road Barrington, RI 02806 United States (map)

Join the Barrington Garden Club for a lively presentation on Tuesday, March 17 at 1pm featuring Cindy Larson Moura, co-owner of Prickly Ed’s Cactus Patch (www.PricklyEds.com), a locally owned and operated small business focused on providing the plants, information, and empowerment people need to artfully build back habitat at home and in their communities. In this session we will explore integrating native plants into home landscapes by digging deep on the stories of twelve native plants species and how they naturally function in the landscape. By learning their stories, participants will gain additional confidence in selecting beneficial plants that work for their garden goals all while providing an essential boost to the biodiversity of the region.

Cindy authors ecological gardening content for several publications including our local “East Bay Life” and the Massachusetts Pollinator Network Quarterly Newsletter. She regularly conducts workshops focused on gardening with nature at the root and actively engages with environmental leaders to promote a heightened awareness of biodiversity challenges – and solutions - for our region. A long-time Barrington resident and lifelong gardener, she and her husband, “Prickly Ed” do all of the design, implementation and management for their ever-evolving 5+ acre “Wildscape’ which straddles Barrington, RI and Swansea, MA and is a Certified Wildlife Habitat, a stop on the Pollinator Pathway, and the site of an active Biodiversity Audit.

Members of the community are invited to join us. Space is limited. Register at barringtonlibrary.libcal.com or call 401-247-1920 x7
